Eileen J.  Ponzio (Davis)
NIAGARA, Wis. –Eileen J. Ponzio, 89, of Niagara, passed away Thursday, March 24, 2016, at Maryhill Manor in Niagara.

She was born December 14, 1926, in Kenosha, Wis. daughter of the late George and Rella (Loker) Davis.

Eileen grew up in Redgranite, Wis. and graduated from high school, Class of 1944. She went on to attend the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh and received her Bachelor’s Degree in Education. Eileen married Martin “Pope” Ponzio in Redgranite on June 7, 1952; he preceded her in death in 2005. She taught in Omro, Wis., Channing, Mich. and Niagara Elementary, retiring from there in 1989.

She was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church, the American Legion Auxiliary and the National Education Retired Teachers Association.

Eileen is survived by one son, Peter (Linda) Ponzio of Niagara; three daughters, Marlene (Richard) Janis of South Dakota, Renee Ponzio of Chippewa Falls, Wis. and Brenda (John) Thiry of Casco, Wis.; three brothers, Rex Davis of Redgranite, George Davis of Wisconsin Rapids, Wis. and Neil (Myrita) Davis of Rolla, Mo.; one sister-in-law, Beatrice Tarperi of Iron Mountain and seven grandchildren, Novlyn Janis, Peter Janis, Alicia Komi, Whisper Janis, Amanda Mouttaki, Ashley Bibbo, Beau Thiry and twelve great-grandchildren, Daniel, Nathaniel, Marella, Lilly, Ajab, Nove'ah, Kiron, Aiden, Mikhail, Khalil, Jamison, Bowie.

In addition to her parents and her husband, Martin “Pope” Ponzio, she was preceded in death by one granddaughter, Katelinn Thiry.

Graveside Services will be held Saturday, July 9, 2016, 11:00 a.m. at the Niagara Cemetery in Niagara. Rev. Fr. Matt Settle will officiate.

The family has chosen the Jacobs Funeral Home, Niagara Chapel to honor Eileen’s Legacy of Life.
