Obituary for Arlene L. Altobelli (Costa)

Arlene L. Altobelli, 84, of Iron Mountain, passed away Wednesday, November 18, 2015, at Evergreen Assisted Living, Kingsford.

She was born August 14, 1931, in Iron Mountain, daughter of the late Mike and Mary Louise (Vespa) Costa.

Arlene grew up in Iron Mountain and graduated from Iron Mountain High School, Class of 1949. She married Americo “Mudd” Altobelli on May 6, 1950, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Iron Mountain. He preceded her in death on October 20, 2012. Over the years, Arlene worked as a prep-cook at the Chippewa Club and Big Boy. After retiring, Mudd and Arlene enjoyed time spent in Apache Junction, Ariz., where they wintered for 13 years.

She was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, the Paisano Club, the Red Hat Society and the Daughters of Isabella. Arlene loved to cook, and was known for her ravioli and red sauce. She enjoyed playing Smear, trips to the casino, going out with the girls on Friday night and shopping with her late sister, Mary Ann Santini and friend Alice Feira.

Arlene is survived by two sons, Michael (Janice ) Altobelli, Iron Mountain, James (Karen) Altobelli, Breitung Township; one daughter, Therese (Mike) Seda, Breitung Township; two sisters-in-law, Josephine Syrjanen, Florence, Wis. and Rena Altobelli, Escanaba, Mich.;.four grandchildren, Matthew, Amanda, Tyler and Heidi; three great-grandchildren, Paige, Gracelyn and Griffin and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held Friday, November 20, 2015, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Jacobs Funeral Home, Iron Mountain. Prayers will be recited Saturday, November 21, 2015, 9:00 a.m. at the funeral home. The Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday, 9:30 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Iron Mountain. Msgr. James Kaczmarek will officiate. Burial will be in Cemetery Park, Iron Mountain.
