Obituary for Gertrude Hetherington

Gertrude Hetherington, 94, of Iron Mountain, Mich., passed away Friday, September 7, 2007, at Freeman Nursing Home in Kingsford, Mich.
She was born July 26, 1913, in Grafton, Wis., daughter of the late Fred and Marie (Scheer) Wetzel. Gertrude married William Hetherington, he preceded her in death in 1969.
Affectionately known as Gert, she lived in Norway, Mich. for a short time and spent most of her later years in Iron Mountain. Gert worked at S.S. Kresge’s in Iron Mountain for 10 years, her job included baking bread, cakes, pastries, and making their famous apple dumplings. She was also a waitress at the Blind Duck for five years. Gert was a hard worker and enjoyed crafts and romantic novels. Her faith was very important to her, she was a member of St. Mary and St. Joseph Catholic Church, Iron Mountain.
Gertrude is survived by, one daughter, Marlene Hetherington; one brother, LaRoy Chase; two grandsons, Gregory Stemper, David (Anne) Teckam; one granddaughter, Janine (Marvin) Lackman; five great-grandchildren, Colin, Aubrey, Adam, Janee, Janson; and one step-daughter, Rae Beauparlant.
Visitation will be Tuesday, September 11, 2007, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., at the Jacobs Funeral Home, Iron Mountain. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Deacon Don Christy will officiate.
Burial will be in Cemetery Park, Iron Mountain.
Gert will be remembered by many for her jokes, she loved to make people laugh.
